Hello! We are Julie and Jason Buckley, and this site is for anyone thinking about taking a motorhome trip to Morocco, on a budget!
We travelled to Morocco as part of an full-time journey around Europe, and have put together a guide detailing the practicalities of getting into, around and out of Morocco in a motorhome.
Our trip took us over the Rif, Middle and High Atlas mountains, into the Todra and Dades gorges and to the edge of the Sharaha, close to the Algerian border (see the route here). We visited the great cities of Fez and Marrakech. The whole trip was done in a 1993 Hymer motorhome with over 160,000 km on the clock. The choice to travel independently gave us the freedom to move around as we wished, tested our adventurous spirit, and also gave us the opportunity to interact with Moroccans as individuals and not as part of a larger group.
When we returned from the trip, we put together a guide describing our experiences and summarising our research, available here. Travelling around this African country, we found a large number of French travellers, but very few British, which is perhaps down to the lack of English language books available. Our book is entirely in English and is written from the perspective of a British motorhome traveller.
Please feel free to browse this site and to get in touch. We’ve provided sample pages of the book, to give you a flavour of what it’s about: click here to look inside!
David and Alison of Cornwall said after reading the book: “We’ve found it very useful. Like sitting down for an hour or two with someone who’s just got back… invaluable.”
Thanks, and happy travels! Julie and Jason Buckley
